Wow, what a busy month March has been! The longarm was movin’ and groovin’, the sewing machine was humming, and my hands were stitching like crazy! It was a non-stop, exciting month full of fun projects and crazy weather that changed by the minute. It rained, it snowed, it hit 70 degrees and 30 degrees.
That is March in Chicago! And why is it that the older we get, the more obsessed we are with the weather?! Maybe it is just me?!
Anywho, let us dive into a month of cross stitch projects!

How I stitch:
- Stitch in Hand
- 1 stitch at a time
- Loop method with 1 thread when using DMC
- 2 threads when using Fancy Floss
- Called for Colors – what is listed on the pattern
- Size 26 Bohin Needle
March Barn Sweet Barn Stitch Along
This monthly stitch along hosted by Fat Quarter Shop is perfect for a quick and easy project, especially if you are on the go! I actually finished most of this month’s stitch while in the hospital with my dad as he had his knee replaced! He is doing great, and I had many hours of uninterrupted stitch time!
If I ever get my finishing act together, these flowers will be finished similarly to how Fat Quarter Shop has finished their pieces. I have the Target Dollar Spot house ready to go!
This pattern uses the middle flower from the Flea Market Baskets Cross Stitch Pattern by Lori Holt of Bee in My Bonnet, so you are essentially getting 13 stitches from just 1 pattern. And the monthly color conversions are released on the Jolly Jabber blog at the beginning of each month! This really is a fun little project each month.

Supplies:
- Flea Market Baskets Cross Stitch Pattern
- 14 ct. White Opal Aida by Zweigardt from Hobby Lobby (sparkle cloth)
- Called for DMC Floss – 1 skein each – 14, 16, 905, 906, 3345
Rainbow Lucky Charm Cross Stitch
St. Patrick’s Day is a big deal in Chicago! There is a large parade, the river is dyed green, and the green beer is a delight to be had! I love all the cross stitching that I can now add to my decorations!
So, it comes as no surprise that I jumped on this new St. Patrick’s Day inspired chart that Fat Quarter Shop released this month. And the best part is metallic thread! I have never stitched with metallic thread before, so I was very excited to give it a try. Although, not the easiest part of the stitching, it sure was fun to have that pop of Gold mixed in with the yellow stitches.

Supplies:
- Rainbow Lucky Charm Cross Stitch Pattern by Fat Quarter Shop
- DMC Thread – 1 skein each – 349, 722, 725, Gold metallic, 704, 959, 996, 208, 310, 03
- I did not use all called for colors, but what I had on hand. Some are called for, others are similar!
- 14 ct. White Aida from Amazon
Heartfelt Cross Stitch
The second release of the Heartfelt Charity Stitch Along hosted by Fat Quarter Shop was released the first Friday in March. The first row of hearts was a breeze to stitch and I am really enjoying the Aurifil floss. The colors are so vibrant! With an easy donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, its beautiful project for a great cause!

Supplies:
- Free Pattern with a recommended donation to Make-A-Wish
- 14 ct. Pale Gray Gingham by Fabric Flair for Fat Quarter Shop
- Aurifil Floss Thread Pack from Fat Quarter Shop
Quilt-O-Graphy
In honor of World Quilting Day, Fat Quarter Shop released this adorable quilt related typography stitch! It is the companion piece to the Stitch-O-Graphy chart that was released last year (yes, this is on the soon to be stitched list!). I immediately bought and downloaded the pattern and I even printed it out in color! That is a big deal!
The pattern calls for Cosmo floss, I have a few in my stash but not all, and in an effort to use what I have, I went in search for DMC. And I did not look far…the cross stitch piece from The Bonnie and Camille Quilt Bee quilt book has the needed Cosmo to DMC conversions! Score!
I love this piece, I could not put it down!

Supplies:
- Quilt-O-Graphy PDF Cross Stitch Pattern by Fat Quarter Shop
- 14 ct. White Opal Aida by Zweigardt from Hobby Lobby (sparkle cloth)
- DMC Floss –1 skein each – 666, 3854, 470, 959, 336, 3706
- The Bonnie and Camille Quilt Bee Quilt and Cross Stitch book
March Sampler of the Month by Country Cottage Needleworks
Last year when I was still a newbie cross stitcher, I saw all these adorable monthly samplers and was so envious! Where are these kits coming from? How does one get the monthly pattern? Well, I caught on to the pattern releases, the kits, stitch along, etc. and now, a year later, I am so excited to be stitching this series! The little characters each month just make my heart swoon! Which is silly but I do not care! I love it!

The called for fabric is a beige color, which is not really my thing. I am not against it, but I do prefer the grey. So that is my only change – beige to grey fabric!
Supplies:
- March Sample of the Month Cross Stitch Pattern
- 16 ct. Touch of Grey aida fabric by Wichelt Imports
- Called for Classic Colorworks Floss – get at your local quilt shop or Fat Quarter Shop
March Cottage of the Month by Country Cottage Needleworks
Since I was already doing the Sampler of the Month, I figured why not just do the cottage along with it?! So far on track to complete each monthly cottage in the appropriate month of the year! Such a fun series to stitch! And the charts aren’t very big, so they are a quicker project to complete!
The little sheep on March’s cottage are just too cute for words!

- 16 ct. Touch of Grey aida fabric by Wichelt Imports
- Called for DMC floss – get at your local Michaels, quilt shop or Fat Quarter Shop
Nutcracker Village – Sugar Plum Sweet Shop by Country Cottage Needleworks
Not going to lie, the first installment of this series took me HOURS to stitch. Hours upon hours – I never thought I would be done. So, starting Sugar Plum Sweet Shop was a little intimidating! But once the chart was started, it was worth the effort! It my no means went fast, there are a lot of stitches on these little guys, but it came together after a few nights on the couch with Netflix. Well HBO Max to be specific!

- 16 ct. Touch of Grey aida fabric by Wichelt Imports

Fall on the Farm – Farm Fresh by Country Cottage Needleworks
And last but not least, I finished up the first chart of the Fall on the Farm Series! I am late to join this bandwagon – was not sure I was going to stitch it when it was first announced. Was not sure it was really my thing…but who am I kidding, of course it is my thing! And I love it! The colors are so different from my normal projects but oh so pretty!
I am going to alternate working on Fall on the Farm with Nutcracker Village as my couch projects!
