Breast Cancer Awareness month is just around the corner! Every October, the medical community along with the National Breast Cancer Foundation fundraises for the fight against the breast cancer; a disease that will affect 1 in 8 women in their lifetime.
This year I am thrilled to be stitching along with Fat Quarter Shop for their Support Group Stitch Along and Fundraiser. Fat Quarter Shop is aiming to raise $20,000 with both Fat Quarter Shop and Lori Holt matching up to $5,000! That is pretty awesome! A suggested $15 donation is encouraged for those stitching along – I know with everyday purchase prices getting higher by the minute, donating might not be on the forefront of thought this year. However, any amount that can be donated, even just a few dollars, can go a long way in the fight against breast cancer.

The Pattern – Lori Holt and It’s Sew Emma, the perfect pair
The Support Group Pattern is designed by Lori Holt of Bee in my Bonnet and published by It’s Sew Emma, the publishing entity of Fat Quarter Shop. Pretty much anything and everything designed by this duo will get my attention. Then Fat Quarter Shop puts their spin on the pattern and curates kits and notions to match to the pattern/event. There is a floss kit with an awesome thread holder and a super cute pink bra needle minder. Even super cute pink scissors!

Let’s Talk Stitching – Pink on Pink on Pink
On my absolute favorite movies is Steal Magnolias – “Shelby : My colors are “blush” and “bashful.” M’Lynn : Her colors are “pink” and pink.” I say these lines to myself every time I use the color pink! And I have been chatting these lines as I prepare for this awesome project!
Fabric: Fabric Flair (absolutely obsessed with Fabric Flair fabric) – 14 ct. aida – White Silver Sparkles. This fabric is beyond smooth – the thread just glides right through it! Even though it is a tad bit more expensive than other brands, the floss does not shred as much when using Fabric Flair and the feel of the fabric is so soft.

Floss – Classic Colorworks – All the Shades of Pink! From Shrimp Cocktail to Little Pink Peony to Blushing Beauty. If it is a pink Classic Colorworks Floss, it is in the running to be stitched! Over the summer, Floss Fix even came with all the pinks!

Plan for Stitching – One bra at a time! I am going to pick and choose three to four shades of pink as I start stitching each bra. I had thought about designating each color on the pattern to a shade of pink, but that took a lot of thought and then I was thinking what if one color works in one bra, but not another?!
So I am just going to wing it – one bra at a time and enjoy the process! I cheated a bit and already finished the first bra! I know, I am bad, but I could not wait any longer!

Anywho, I did notice that some of the lighter pinks really do not show up well on the white fabric. I am usually a use the called for colors type of gal, so when I venture out I get a taste of what it feels like to mix and match colors.
I might, big time might, add a touch of navy blue to the mix. I want to put this stitch in my bathroom when it gets redone in a few months and navy is one of my “colors”. But we shall see – maybe a navy frame instead?
And let us be real – I joined the Quilt Along too!
While I am not a affliate of the quilt along, I still could not resist!

Fat Quarter Shop has an awesome quilt kit featuring Lori Holt’s Stitch fabric line. I heavily contemplated purchasing this kit, but decided to match the quilt to the cross stitch and go with all pinks!
Fabrics – Pink on Pink on Pink! 12 beautifully pink fabrics from light to dark. There are so many pink fabrics available in our shop, not to mention the line of Breast Cancer Support fabric (Hope in Bloom by Riley Blake Designs), that I was able to curate a bundle of pretty pinks for this quilt.

3 fabrics will be used per row, moving from lighter fabrics on the top row to light to medium pinks in the middle rows and dark pink on the bottom. The background fabric is Blossom All the Pink on White. So there is literally pink everywhere on this quilt!
Will it be the coolest thing since sliced bread? Or be an overload of pink? Hoping for the former, but only time will tell!
I am oh so looking forward to these projects! Breast cancer has affected my family, friends, co-workers, and friends of friends. This year supporting The National Breast Cancer Foundation will be a little extra special and oh so pink!
You can shop all things pink at Buffalo Flatts Quilt Co here – including some awesome breast cancer support panels! And you know I love a good panel!
